BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Baldwin is an up-and-coming string educator and performer. Baldwin studied music education at Baldwin Wallace University, where he studied with Dr. David Pope and Lembi Veskimets of the Cleveland Orchestra. Embracing his performance side, Baldwin has attended the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, where he has participated in masterclasses led by members of the Miró, Pacifica, and Juilliard Quartets. Other masterclasses
include Stanley Konopka of the Cleveland Orchestra, Dr. Catherine Lees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and members of the Cavani String Quartet.
In music education, Baldwin has interned as a viola coach and librarian for the New Horizons Orchestra through the Baldwin Wallace Community Arts School, where he made his conducting debut. He was also the viola sectional coach for the Summer Arts Program. Baldwin is an active member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), and Mu Phi Epsilon, holding leadership positions in all three. Baldwin completed his student-teaching at Avon Middle School under Katie Andrzejewski. He plans to work in public education, eventually going to graduate school to teach at the collegiate level.
Baldwin is the recipient of the Katherine B. Geis Musical Trust, the Vera Dragisich Zugich Music Scholarship, the Peter & Eleanore Kleist Scholarship, and the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
